How to complete Queensland Form 6 remote area compliance notices in Tradie Forms.

Form 6 records that eligible remote area plumbing or drainage work under a permit is complete, compliant, operational and fit for use. The responsible person gives it to the local government so the council can accept the work and issue a final inspection certificate without an on-site inspection. Business Queensland explains remote area declarations; give the finished notice within 10 business days after the plumbing or drainage becomes operational and fit for use.
This is the current Queensland Form 6 Remote area compliance notice. Tradie Forms follows the official section order and maps your answers onto the official PDF layout.
Almost every Form 6 problem comes from filling it after you leave site, or from using it outside a declared remote area. Have these in front of you.
The remote area declaration
Confirm the premises sit in an area the local government has currently declared remote, and that the work is covered.
The current permit and any amendments
The source for the land description, permit number and issue date.
Title, rates or permit land details
Street address plus lot and plan when the permit or rates notice carries them.
What was actually finished
A short description of the plumbing or drainage performed, in the same language as the permit.
When it became operational
The date the work was completed and the plumbing or drainage became operational and fit for use. That date starts the 10 business day clock.
Responsible person details
Full name, occupational licence, contractor licence if held, phone, email and postal address for the licensed person who performed or supervised the work.
Qualified person details when used
If someone is preparing the notice on behalf of a corporation or other entity, that person's name, company, licences and contact details.
Download is gated by the declaration qualification and date. The signature, land, permit, work and people details still need to be complete for a notice the local government can accept.
Identifies all land the notice covers. It has to match the permit and the premises where the remote area work was done. The form is used for the purposes of section 72(2) of the Plumbing and Drainage Regulation 2019, and the land description must identify all land the notice covers.
The address on the permit. Address search is limited to Queensland and fills the street line, suburb, state and postcode. Check the result against the permit, because search returns the current postal address and a permit can predate a street renaming or a subdivision. Remote jobs often sit on rural roads that need a careful match.
The legal land description from the permit, title documents or rates notice. On remote or new estates the street address may be weak or missing, so lot and plan is often the identifier council can match. The PDF has two lines; keep the usual Lot 8 on SP 234567 form rather than a long narrative.
Lot 8 on SP 234567
Big block off Station Road
Fill this on multi-tenancy sites so the notice ties to the part of the premises the work covered.
Fill this on anything above one storey, for the same reason.
The council area. Address search may fill this. Confirm it near a boundary, because the LGA is who receives the notice and who declared the remote area.
Links the notice to the compliance permit the remote area work was done under. A person must not carry out permit work unless they have a permit for the work.
From the current permit document. Do not take it from an invoice, a quote or an old job record, because those often carry a superseded number after an amendment. If you are on site without the permit, the permit holder or the council's plumbing team can confirm it.
The date on that same permit. Fill it when you have it: it is how the local government confirms you certified against the current permit rather than a replaced one. The field cannot be set to a future date.
If the permit was amended during the job, confirm which permit record the work was completed under before you lodge.
Describes the plumbing and drainage that has been performed. This is what tells council what the notice is certifying.
A brief description sufficient to identify the work, not the quote title or stage code alone. Name the systems or installation, and the premises when that helps council match the permit. The PDF has three lines; keep it short enough to read on the page without overflowing into an unreadable crush.

Stage 1
Records when the plumbing or drainage work finished. That date frames the 10 business day window for giving the notice.
The date the work was actually finished and the plumbing or drainage became operational and fit for use, not the day you are lodging the notice. Today and Yesterday shortcuts are there because this is usually filled on site or the next morning. The field cannot be set to a future date.
The licensed person who performs the work, or supervises its performance. Their name on this block is the person standing behind the installation.
Legal full name of the responsible person, as on their occupational licence.
The plumber or drainer occupational licence number. Licence check against the QBCC register can fill the name; confirm the result matches the person who did or supervised the work.
Fill when the responsible person holds a contractor licence for the work. Leave blank when only the occupational licence applies.
A number council can use if the notice needs a quick check.
The contact email for the responsible person or their office.
Postal address for the responsible person. Address search is limited to Queensland. Check the filled street, suburb, state and postcode against the licence or business records you keep for lodgement.
Save this section as Responsible Person to prefill it on your next Form 6 for the same licensed person.
Complete this section when the notice is prepared on behalf of a corporation or other entity. If you are signing only as the responsible person, leave it blank. The form may be signed by either the responsible person or the suitably qualified person.
Full name of the person preparing the notice for the entity.
The corporation or entity name. The official form notes that when the notice is prepared on behalf of a corporation or other entity, the entity name must also be on the certified documentation.
Fill when the qualified person holds a relevant occupational licence. Licence check can fill the name from the QBCC register; confirm it.
Fill when a contractor licence applies to the person preparing the notice.
Contact phone for the qualified person or the entity office.
Contact email for follow-up on the notice.
Save this section as Qualified Person to prefill it on your next Form 6 when the same person prepares the notice for an entity.
Signs the statement that the work complies with the Plumbing and Drainage Regulation 2019, is operational and fit for use, and that the information on the form is true and accurate. Either the responsible person or the suitably qualified person may sign.
Tick the single option that matches the signatory under the form's definition: occupational plumber or drainer; a person the local government considers competent to prepare and give the document; a relevant QBCC licensee; a registered professional engineer for an area of engineering relevant to the work; or other. Pick the role that is true for the person signing, not the most convenient label.
The responsible person or suitably qualified person named on the notice. Sign when the land, permit, work, completion date and people blocks are correct, not as a blank stamp for later jobs. You can use a saved signature; check the preview so the stamp sits cleanly in the signature box on page two of the PDF.
The date the declaration is made. Today and Yesterday shortcuts are available. The field cannot be set to a future date. This is a different event from the completion date when you sign after finishing site work.
The declaration qualification, signature and date need to be complete before you download the finished notice.
Using Form 6 outside a declared remote area.
The notice only applies where the local government has declared the area remote and the work is eligible. Outside that, council expects the usual inspection path, not this form.
Starting the 10 business day clock from the paperwork day.
The window runs from when the plumbing or drainage became operational and fit for use, not from when you next sit down to fill the form. Miss that trigger and the notice is late before it is written.
Taking the permit number from an invoice.
Invoices are raised early and often carry a number that was later amended. Take it from the current permit document.
Describing the work by stage or quote title alone.
Stage 1 means nothing to council matching the notice to the permit. Name the installation the same way the permit does.
Putting the wrong person in the responsible person block.
The responsible person is the licensed person who performed, directed or supervised the work. If a qualified person prepared the notice for an entity, both sets of details belong on the form.
Leaving lot and plan blank on a remote rural address.
Street address alone is often weak on remote jobs. Lot and plan from the permit or rates notice is what lets council match the premises.
Signing before the work is operational and fit for use.
The declaration states the work is complete, compliant and fit for use. Signing while fixtures, drains or services are still incomplete turns the notice into a false completion record.
Give the finished notice to the local government within 10 business days after the plumbing or drainage became operational and fit for use. Business Queensland's remote area guidance is the place to confirm how declarations and notices work for your council; lodgement method varies by local government.
Form 6 - 45 Outback Station Rd - P-2024-99102.pdf is easier to find than a generic download name when council asks for a re-send.Check the current Business Queensland and local government requirements for your job. Retention and lodgement detail sit with the authority.
Who signs, the 10 business day deadline, and what council does after you lodge.
The certificate the local government issues once remote area work is accepted.
The declaration used when an action notice requires compliance, not remote area completion.
The regulator publications this guide is based on. Always check the current official form before you lodge.
