# Install the app (/docs/features/install-the-app)



Add Tradie Forms to your home screen so it opens full screen from an icon, like a normal app. You do not need the App Store or Google Play.

This works on iPhone, Android, and most computers. You can also open the short steps from [**Settings**](https://tradieforms.com.au/app/settings) when you are signed in.

## Why install it [#why-install-it]

* One-tap open from your home screen
* Opens into the app hub, not a browser tab full of chrome
* Feels more like an app when you are on site
* No separate store download

## What it does not change [#what-it-does-not-change]

* It is still the same Tradie Forms website under the icon
* You need a connection for cloud drafts, downloads, lookups, and most features
* Guest and Free drafts stay in that browser on that device for up to 7 days
* Clearing site data or uninstalling the home screen icon can remove local drafts
* Paid cloud drafts still need a Solo or Team plan and a connection

    Use **Safari**. Chrome and many in-app browsers do not offer **Add to Home Screen** the same way.

        **Open the site in Safari.** Go to [tradieforms.com.au](https://tradieforms.com.au) or open [**the app**](https://tradieforms.com.au/app) if you already use it.

        **Open Share.** Tap the **Share** button (square with an arrow) in Safari.

        **Add to Home Screen.** Scroll the share sheet and tap **Add to Home Screen**. Confirm the name, then tap **Add**.

        **Open from the icon.** On your home screen, tap **Tradie Forms**. Sign in if you need cloud features or downloads.

        **Install or add to home screen.** Tap **Install app** or **Add to Home screen**, then confirm. Menu labels vary slightly by Chrome version. If you do not see install, open the site in full Chrome (not an in-app browser from email or social apps).

        **Open from the icon.** Tap the new **Tradie Forms** icon on your home screen or app drawer.

    Chrome and Edge can install the site as a desktop app.

        **Install.** Click the **install** icon in the address bar if it appears, or open the browser menu and choose **Install Tradie Forms** (wording may vary).

        **Open the installed app.** Launch it from your dock, Start menu, or applications list. It opens without the usual browser tabs.

## After you install [#after-you-install]

1. Sign in when you need downloads, cloud drafts, or paid features
2. Set your state and trade if the app asks on first use
3. Start a form from **Templates** or **New form**

## Common problems [#common-problems]

* **No Add to Home Screen on iPhone:** Use Safari, not Chrome or Facebook/Instagram’s built-in browser. Open the site in Safari, then try again.
* **No Install on Android:** Use Chrome, leave any in-app browser, and check you are not already installed.
* **Draft missing after install:** Guest and Free drafts are tied to that browser profile. The home screen icon uses the same site data in normal cases. If you cleared site data or used private browsing, local drafts may be gone. Paid cloud drafts appear under **Drafts** when you are signed in and online.
* **Looks like a normal tab:** You opened the website in the browser instead of the home screen icon. Tap the icon you added.
